| Name: | Jewllian Mayfair |

BASIC INFORMATION
Name: Jewllian Fineas Mayfair. PB: Johnny Depp. Age: 38. Birthday: 13 November 1963. Wand: 30cm of Alderwood containing a dragon heartstring. Education: Durmstrang. Bloodline: Pureblood. Political View: Jewllian’s political view is quite unfavorable. He has never held the ministry in any form of respect and took great delight in bending its law where he could. As such, he sees it as a weak organization and useless. His opinion has only worsened in the light of recent events - grasping at straws to maintain any sort of control, a mite hair short of a totalitarian government. However, his view of the Death Eaters is just as unfavorable. Though he can’t deny his own form of pureblood supremacy, he saw Voldemort as a dangerously foolish wizard, taking what should have been the final stages of a plan his only form of a power struggle. A shame he had never learned from history: the world’s or even his own.
APPEARANCE
Height: 180cm. Weight: 70kg. Eyes: Brown. Hair: A deep, rich brown. Build: Easily classified as lean, though well muscled. His physique has begun to soften just a bit as his age progresses. Dress Style: Jewllian’s style of dress is rather odd. He often wears layers of both clothing and jewelry, giving him a rather humble or even haggard appearance, and quite often that of less fortunate circumstance. His clothing is from no particular culture or period - his collection containing random garments from ripped jeans to poet shirts, all well worn. His jewelry includes necklaces ranging from amulets to dog tags, wristbands and bracelets, and a variety of rings. Traditional wizard robes and formal wear are very, very rarely seen on him. The last he wore anything of the sort was when he still held an office as a barrister. Defining Marks: Jewllian Mayfair could be quite an attractive man, if he tried. Though not remarkably tall, he’s kept himself in good health and shape, and even can be considered muscular. A strong jaw line and high cheek bones connect him to his heritage just as much as his dark, rich brown eyes, and make for a very handsome face. However, these are all softened and even hidden by his hair, always worn long and around his face, accompanied by varying amounts of facial hair. Neither, however, are meant as any form of concealment or “protection” as so often described of such styling, but simply a matter of preference. Though he has no mentionable scars upon his person, he does have a small collection of tattoos. Each of them hold special meaning to him, and hardly have anything to do with the magical. One can ask him the meaning behind the sparrow on his forearm, or the nature of the three on his hand (to name a few), but be prepared for a vague, unrelated, or mildly insulting answer.
PERSONALITY
Rather simply, Jewllian Mayfair is a quiet, private man. Those qualities tend to often lead to an air of mystery about him. He often appears cold, though calm and collected and seemingly unbothered by everything around him. In areas of the law, he is passionate and even captivating. A person is rarely so simple, however, to be summed up so easily. Jewllian, in his complexities, is a balance between a good man and a dark wizard, between instinct and malice. In the true nature of an introvert he prefers solitude. He maintains few relationships, not out of an inability to create them, but because of a general disinterest in others - an interesting trait for a barrister to possess. The few that he does have, that he truly cares about, are often created by a spark of interest in the person. The deepest connections, the most important relationships, were those he formed early in his life, and he finds himself incapable of relinquishing the attachment. When connections such as these are found, he is driven and passionate in the relationship. Jewllian is extremely intelligent. He is prone to studying people and situations, his instinct that of a strategist. The trait has served him well for most of his life, especially in his practice. However, he exhibits hubris common to those who deem themselves intelligent and has very little humility. He does not give respect easily, and never unless you can prove his equal or superior. Be prepared for a fight. And yet, he is a barrister, helping those often beneath him. He exhibits great patience and care to those outside of such a profession he might never have even looked at. Jewllian would explain this away as a passion for the law not the people. In the realm of patience, he is capable of it in great quantity. He is also prone to a short temper and a wrath-like anger. Once you’ve reached your limit on his patience, you will never see it again. There is no second chance in his eyes, and he is unforgiving to a fault. As stated before, Jewllian is a private man. Even when asked directly, he will rarely tell you anything about his private life. Often he will ignore the question. When he doesn’t, he is prone to lies or stories aimed at insulting the inquisitor. It was also something seen quite often when dealing with reporters who asked, what he believed were, stupid questions. Jewllian also possesses a dark sense of humor. He takes great pleasure in manipulation, of both a single person and the offices of law. Admittedly, his first interest in a legal career was not to help people, or the pursuit of justice, but a study in how to manipulate it. Still, though he will likely never admit to it, he also finds pride in upholding it, and worked to change it where needed.
PSYCHOLOGY
Extrovert/Introvert: Jewllian is, in his most basic nature, an introvert. His career might lead one to believe the opposite, and he can play the roll of the extrovert well. This outspoken individual, the one capable of entertaining and swaying large rooms, is left entirely when he leaves the room. His preference lies in solitude, and will not suffer people longer than is reasonable. Boggart: To anybody who may see it, his boggart takes the form of a dark, shadow figure - something that can be mistaken for a dementor. To say it is would be untrue, but only he knows the face in the darkness is that of his grand-uncle Loughland Mayfair. As a child, subject to his will as head of the family, Jewllian has quite a reason to harbor a deep (though often subconscious) fear and hatred of the man. Patronus: Though he’s been able to produce a white mist of a patronus, he’s never been able to produce a full-bodied patronus - his ability hindered by an apathy towards the use of the charm.
SEXUALITY
Though his marriage would suggest that he is straight, as would the often illicit affairs he’s been caught with, when he takes attention to something he can be quite passionate. Such a passion is not limited to any one sex.
LIFESTYLE
Occupation: Currently he is little more than a leech on the family fortune, focusing on his fascination with herbology rather than actively pursing a career as a barrister. Residence: A small cottage little more than a stone’s throw from Hogsmeade. Financial Status: Well off. He kept his account well filled from his career as a barrister, which is kept up with the occasional stipends from the family fortune.
FAMILY
Parents: Marceau and Helena Creswell (both deceased). Siblings: One sister, Juliette Mayfair. Jewllian’s family is, at times, rather confusing and troubling to say the least. His mother, Helena, was the daughter of Leland Mayfair, though in disgust for his family, he turned his children over to his brother, Loughland, and left them to return to Scotland. Jewllian never formed any sort of bond with his mother or father. At the age of 5 he left Salem to live with his grandfather (at Leland’s behest) in the Scottish highlands. It was with him that Jewllian formed the only paternal attachment he has. Leland never made any attempt to hide that he was a Dark Wizard, though was never a Death Eater. Jewllian’s early education with him was, no doubt, an interesting one. Only a few years after his relocation to Scotland, his younger sister Juliette followed. Both of them surrendered the name Creswell in favor of Mayfair early on in their lives. He and Juliette are unshakably and often disturbingly close. Their relationship exceeds the bounds of siblings to a degree that might suggest that they are really only fragments of a whole. Juliette is the only person to truly know Jewllian, and vice versa. When they fight, though it’s rare, it’s nothing short of severe psychological warfare with the express purpose of shattering the other. Neither of them has yet won this game. His relationship with his mother was rocky at best. As mentioned before, their relationship is far from mother and son, though not for a lack of Helena’s trying. In his adult years their relationship developed an explosive dynamic that lead them to many fights, the final one being when he decided to marry (Helena deeming his wife unsuitable), ending in her disowning him from the family. Marceau and Jewllian never had any sort of relationship, holding nothing but contempt for his father at the man’s weak will. Naturally, he found no remorse or sadness in his parent’s death. Loughland Mayfair is a rather touchy subject. Any extensive contact with the man was reserved to the years prior to his relocation to Scotland, and brief holidays in his childhood. He was a cruel man, and a truly terrifying wizard to a small child. Jewllian harbors nothing but contempt towards his memory. The marriage to his wife, Giada, is a complicated one. Their romance started off heavy and passionate, leading them to elope - something that angered both of their families. However, upon being married, their dynamic changed almost immediately. No longer the source of mystery and passion she once was, Jewllian’s feelings for his wife faltered as did his loyalty. He is quite apt to blame her - claiming that she had changed from the stunning, strong woman she was in her youth to nothing more than a wispy housewife. Jewllian is by no means a saint in this relationship, and holds little patience for the woman and is quick to anger where she’s concerned. However, neither of them has ever visited the idea of divorce.
HISTORY
Jewllian never attended Hogwarts. His grandfather thought the school could only offer his grandson an unfitting and demeaning education at best, and petitioned to have the boy attend Durmstrang. Given the family’s pure and well-established bloodline, he was an easy admittance. Though for the first year Jewllian struggled with the language barriers and the otherwise unwelcoming attitude towards the American-born Scot, his marks didn’t fair too badly. The first summer holiday he spend his time studying the languages used at the school, determined to have one less obstacle. Though he would never consider himself fluent, he learned enough to rarely be hindered too badly in class, though his teachers weren’t particularly forgiving. He would never be warmly accepted by either students or professors, but he did exceedingly well in his studies. In fact, he found an affinity with the considerably darker curriculum taught there. During those years, he showed an undeniable talent in herbology, which would carry into hobby later in life. After school he returned to his family in Salem for a short time. It was during then that he had met his future wife Giada. After a brief romance he returned to Scotland, and then to London to pursue a career as a barrister. He studied diligently under the ministry and even at The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn, though he viewed muggle law as beneath him. After passing his exams and obtaining the title of barrister, he took a minor role within the ministry’s Magical Law Enforcement department, and set up a small practice of his own. To celebrate, he took a short holiday back to Salem which ended in his marriage. Despite the turbulent and practically non-existent relationship with his family, and the eroding relationship between him and his wife, he managed to form a respectable and successful law office. That began to change, however, as Voldemort came back into power. Jewllian’s heritage in the dark arts had never been much of a secret, though most had never before let it hinder their opinions of the man as a barrister. As the world became polarized and gripped by fear, that began to change. It was in the summer of 1997 that he sold his law office (for quite a generous amount) and closed his house to move east, finding a comfortable residence on the south coast of France. During the next four years, he retired nearly completely from practicing law, corresponding only by owl when desperately needed - which wasn’t often at first with all of the UK at war. Instead he turned his focus to his once-talent as a student, herbology. His interests started off rather broad in the field, but soon became limited to cultivating and breeding rare (and often illegal) plants. In the early spring of 2001 he turned possession of his home in France over to his sister and returned to his cottage outside of Hogsmeade. He hasn’t yet fully returned to his career as a barrister, preferring the life of a hermit herbologist for now, though it’s rare that he ever turns down someone seeking legal advice, should they brave approaching him. Whether or not the advice is helpful is a completely different matter.
